The series “Liturgies” was created at Arteles Creative Centre in Haamenkyrö, Finland in 2016. Inspired by Finnish Folklore stories and the surrounding natural landscape of my location I created this series. A liturgy is a fixed set of ceremonies, words etc, that are used during public worship in a religion. I have produced these images inspired by the idea of creating altars out of the nature in Finland and constructed my own fictional places of worship. I have created a narrative surrounding the ideas of sacrifice for beauty, rebirth and the flaws that come with beauty.
